My name is Michal Wojtkiewicz, a Glasgow-based architect and designer with a strong focus on environmentally conscious solutions that nourish the human soul. I currently work as an Associate Director at DaeWha Kang Design, where my role spans strategic direction, client liaison and winning new business, alongside leading early stage design proposals and taking projects through to delivery, with emphasis on adaptive reuse, cradle to cradle principles and circular economy.
Before this I spent a decade at Zaha Hadid Architects, where I led a number of high-profile projects. My ZHA portfolio includes residential villas, office and research facilities, cultural buildings, masterplans, airports and infrastructure projects across Europe, the Middle East, the USA, Australia and Asia. I received my Master of Architecture and Urbanism from the Technical University of Lodz in 2009, having also studied at Tampere University of Technology in Finland. I have been an invited critic at the UCL Bartlett School of Architecture, where I have also taught software and technical modules.
Alongside practice, I have a strong interest in computational and generative design, exploring algorithmic pattern-making that draws on natural systems. This extends into fine art photography and object making at the intersection of product design and art, further exploring the contrast between the natural and the man-made.
